We had so much fun for Easter! Claire got 3 egg hunts, which she totally loved. One in our backyard, one at a candy-free hunt put on by the Utah Food Allergy Network (she got stickers, bouncy balls, sillybandz, tiny rubber ducks, etc), and one with little chocolate eggs. Thanks to Kassie for taking lots of great pictures!

She spotted the swings!

She kept trying to put eggs in other kids' baskets

Since Claire gets a rash any time she eats or touches artificial food dye, and I thought she would love colored eggs, I decided to dye some naturally! After some poking around on the internet, reading a few blogs/articles and see what my friends were doing, I decided on using turmeric, red cabbage, beets, red onion skins, and paprika. It was SO MUCH FUN! I haven't dyed eggs in years because it's not something I love to do, but I really loved this. I loved knowing it was natural, seeing the variety of colors, seeing what happened when we over-dyed something (how we got the green). And Claire really loved seeing all the colored eggs and smashing them to "help" peel the shells. As you can see, we ended up with various shades of green, blue, pink, red, brown, orange, and yellow. Kassie and I drew on a few with crayons, and I plan on having more fun with that next year.

This is what the beet juice ones looked like right out of the water

But you can see them here looking spotted. I'm going to look into something else for pink next year. At the top are some orange, and a pale yellow that weren't pictured above.

Claire loves smashing and peeling the eggs!
