NC vacation!
Hyrum, Claire and I got to visit my family in North Carolina a couple of weeks ago. The trip started off pretty good with a bath at Grandaddy's!

My nephew Cade's first football game was pretty cool too. But that was the day that my back went out on me. It sucked.

Everybody loves Uncle Hyrum.
Later that day we hit the beach. Ella is all about the sand.
Claire, on the other hand, is a little water baby. I was so sad to miss out on her first beach experience. I watched from a far, and to even get that close I hobbled at a 90 degree angle or I crawled. Yeah, people were staring. Oh well. Claire absolutely loved it. This child has no fear.
Waiting for the water.
Woohoo! She kept trying to go out further and further and waves would knock her down and splash in her face and she didn't even care. Hyrum had to keep bringing her back before she got swept out to sea!

Love the wedgie

Joy.

We got a little sand burying time in. It was a bad idea to stay in that position for so long. I had to be half carried back to my dad's (whose apartment overlooks this beach!).

We also got to hang out with my brother's family. Halle was the sweetest little thing!
Playing in the makeshift ball bit!
Watching some baby einsten together, Claire's first time!
I love these pictures of the girls in the bath. Claire is cheesing it up in every single picture. Ella can't be bothered.
As close to a smile as she's gonna give!

Claire LOVES to sit in small things. If it looks like it could even remotely be big enough for her, she'll squeeze her way in. We have a few small buckets at home that she does this with. She sometimes gets stuck, or falls out but she keeps coming back for more.

Claire loves parks with slides and swings. Faster and higher is her motto.
We called my sister's home "The Fun House". Claire was in toy Heaven. She loved playing with the necklaces and the stacking cups, the millions of baby dolls and the toy kitchen, little things she would stick in her mouth and more TV than she's watched in her entire life.

We went to the Children's Museum one day and Claire loved this "sand" box.
She adored these beads. Maybe I should get some for her room...
Little Lyla Lou (the main reason for this visit) was just as cute as can be! She was amazing and perfect and wonderful.

Claire had a dislike/hate relationship with Camus (the dog). She does NOT like small dogs, or cats. Much of the time she ran screaming anytime he came anywhere near her. He's an old, blind dog that doesn't do much of anything but meander from his bed to his food and back again. But it still freaked her out. There were a few rare moments where someone else (me, or cousin Halle) would pet him and Claire would too. Occasionally she completely ignored him. We did teach her to say "No no doggy" with signs and it was really cute to watch her do that. She also screamed bloody murder when my brother's cat looked at her from across the room. Poor thing. I guess there is something that scares her.

Sweet Lyla interacting with big sis. She was SO alert and copied us and seemed so much older than 2 months!
It's almost time to go home? And I have to leave the sippy cups here?!?! (Claire had a love affair with all of Ella's girly sippy cups)
Only picture with all the girls! Lyla is hiding behind Claire. We are so glad we got to come visit and can't wait to come again! Miss you!

That looks like so much fun! Can't wait til we're all in the same place again. So funny that she's afraid of cats and dogs, how is she related to Halle?? Love that she sits in small things too.

We had a great time seeing you guys!! Next time you come, hopefully Halle won't be sick, and we'll actually get to hang out more than twice!!!
