10 months

I really did take the pictures on time, but we've been so busy this week I haven't had time to post! Claire currently weighs 21 lbs. I'm not sure how long she is, but she's still tall and I think perfectly proportioned. Just the right amount of chub in all the right places. She loves when we sing, right now it's "I've got a lovely bunch of coconuts" and anything we make up. Claire can stand up by herself without pulling up on something and stand for several minutes at a time, but has very little interest in walking holding onto our hands. She will push stuff around and walk behind it though. She can say 4 words- mama, dada, baby (bay-buh, which she uses for her baby doll), and bye (which sounds like she's saying it with a southern accent), but she doesn't use any of them regularly. Still only 2 teeth, but I wish they would hurry up and stop making me wonder "Is she teething?" every time something is wrong!

Can you believe how lucky I was to get this pic the first shot I took?

Claire seems to be sleeping better sometimes, because there are nights that I don't think I wake up at all. Other nights are hard, like last night when she woke up screaming bloody murder and it took 10 minutes to calm her down. Or a few nights ago when she woke up at 3am and started crawling all over me, bouncing on the bed, gibber jabbering, and pulling my hair. She gave up swaddling a few weeks ago, and now her hands just explore everything as she falls asleep. It's super cute. Sometimes she'll nurse and then roll over and away from me so we get to "spoon". I love that too. The song "Rock-a-bye Baby" totally helps her calm down and fall asleep. Hyrum figured that one out. She also really likes to sleep on her side with her top leg propped up on my hip. I love cuddling up with her like that. Yesterday morning we were snuggling and she was still sleeping, when she started giggling in her sleep. Then she whispered some gibberish. Love love love moments like that. Everything seems perfect.

I did a soybean oil challenge (I ate things with soybean oil in it to see if she would react) this week and she seemed to be doing just fine, but today she developed a slight diaper rash. I'm hoping it was a coincidence but if it gets worse or doesn't go away after a few days, I'll go back off soy. Her skin right now is absolutely PERFECT from head to toe. Not a hint of eczema, the molloscum is gone, and no diaper rash. I marvel at her soft baby body every single day.

Look, I can touch my head! (not really, she doesn't know what she's doing)
Took the pic at the right moment so it looks like she's asleep, so sweet.

She loves to crawl under things!
And she loves playing with cell phones! Especially the "toddler lock" on dad's and aunt kassie's phones
She loves pretty much all food except avocados. We haven't done any allergens (eggs, nuts, wheat, obviously dairy or soy etc) or most grains though she's had oatmeal and quinoa a few times. She has started to eat a lot more lately and loves beans (any kind), all fruit, veggies if they are seasoned right (who doesn't?), and all meat. She also loves dirt, lint, grass, rocks, plastic, paper, and basically anything that is on the floor/ground.

She's started comfort nursing and it's the best. When she gets hurt and cries, nursing immediately stops all tears. Before, I just had to hold her and she'd cry for several minutes until she calmed down. She still loves to nurse and does so a million times a day. I still love every single second, and feel so lucky that I was able to breastfeed her. She recently discovered the mole on my chest, and pinches at it a lot of the time. This has made me try to wear higher neck shirts lately!

She is a TOTAL mama's girl right now. She wants very little to do with Hyrum, especially if he takes her from me after bath time (Claire and I take baths together). In the evenings, everything I do will just crack her up. Hyrum can do the exact same thing, and she just looks at him like he's an idiot, then she'll laugh hysterically at me. It's actually pretty funny when we do it. Hyrum and I feel so blessed that she's our little girl.
