Firsts

There have obviously been a lot of firsts this week for Claire! Here are some significant ones.

First professional photo shoot, all thanks to daddy (well, and the photographer!). Apparently, it's up to the anesthesiologist how many people can be in there, and ours was referred to as "Mr. Grumpy Pants" by the nurse, so he didn't want Kelli in there. Hyrum put on a really good show to about a half dozen people and thoroughly convinced everyone that if only one person could come in the birth room, I would pick Kelli, because, you know, we're identical twins. At one point I heard him say something like "Well, I'd really like to be there too..." and I heard a response "Are they identical?" Hy- sigh "yeah". They all probably thought I was a horrible person that would deny my husband the chance to see his daughter born, but it worked!First time meeting mommy. I was kind of expecting a boy (but hoping a little for a girl) so I was amazed and thrilled to hear "It's a girl!" from everyone in the room. I got to see some chub before they passed her to the nurses and Hy was so happy he just stood there with a huge smile and I had to remind him "go be with her." Hy couldn't get over to her fast enough. He didn't even notice the anestesiologist telling him he couldn't go through the "sterile field".First time being weighed, holy cow!First bath. We didn't want the nurses to wash her, so the day after she was born, Hy and Kelli wrapped her in a towel and washed gunk off of her head but left her body alone. She did NOT like it! However, she loved loved when I blow dried her hair afterward.

She just got her first sponge bath at 6 days old after the biggest blowout diaper any one of us (including my mom) have ever seen. It was pretty amazing the amount of poop! I got to do that one, with Kelli and Momo helping! (there are pictures on Kelli's camera, but I can't get those right now)

First visitors, daddy's roommate from college Blake, and his awesome wife ChesleyFirst family outing. We went to the chiropractor for me and Claire. She went with Hyrum the day before, but I didn't go and didn't get a picture of it. **Perk of not finding out what you are having, and then having a girl- people love to buy girl stuff, so even though you had a baby shower and got wonderful gifts from awesome people, they go buy you girly clothes and blankets and accessories for your pink bundle! See adorable blanket from my mom below-
First Cloth Diaper (second picture has the waterproof cover)

First time in a baby carrier. Yay for wraps! I can use it without having to worry about my incision at all!
Isn't that the cutest fat you've ever seen? (hint, I'm not talking about mine)

I LOVE all the pictures! So cute! The picture of her being weighed is hysterical. Love love love the pics--I should really put some pictures of Max up, huh. Glad you found a wrap you could use. Hope she starts nursing soon--you've had kind of a rough start. It gets better:)

I love the pictures! She is such a precious little chub! I can't believe what you guys went through to get Kelli in the room. I was surprised when I heard that she was in there, but now I understand how you pulled it off. That is too funny! How could they deny you with that story?? And yay for the wrap! Isn't it great to be able to wear her and not have to worry about your incision!? Can't wait to see more pics!!

oh what an angel! i am sorry to hear that you had to have a c-section, but i'm glad that little claire arrived safely! that was the same with our claire. thank goodness that they can arrive safe when there is trouble. she is positively precious and i of course LOVE the chub! i hope you heal well. i was pretty miserable for about 8 days, and then i felt fantastic, so hopefully it will be an easy recovery so you can get on to enjoying fully your little angel. and three cheers for hyrum! what a champ daddy and husband!
