2 month old Claire

Claire had a doctor appointment at 2 1/2 months, here are the stats-
13 lbs 6 oz - 90%
24 1/2 in - 97%
15.8 in head - 75%
Claire has had a diaper rash pretty much since she was born (I didn't change diapers for the first 6 days, so I'm assuming). I've tried a million things and it gets better, then worse, then better, but never goes away. Her pediatrician thinks the rash might be yeast, and since I already tried a topical anti-fungal and it made the rash way worse, he prescribed an oral. Here's hoping that she can finally be rash free! If this doesn't work, his next suggestion is an elimination diet; something I'd been considering anyway.

She has changed so much this month I can't believe it! She discovered her hands and when she's not sucking on them, she sometimes stares at them. She kicks like crazy all the time, making diaper changing time a challenge (even with disposables). She can roll from her back to either side, and I think she's getting close to rolling over. She also scoots around and pushes up on her toes. It looks like she's trying to push her body somewhere just using her feet, because her head and arms won't move at all when she does that and she just gets mad. I put her to bed last night with her head facing the south, and a few hours later, she was facing north east. She also smiles all the time and talks and makes lots of cute little noises (see the video at the end of the post).

Claire also started taking a pacifier (or, a "soother" as I call it since I spent the last 2 years with Canadians) and developed a bed time. She goes down between 8 and 9 usually but since she got sick, she hasn't been the best sleeper. She got her first cold the day she turned 2 months. It started with a runny nose, then a week later developed into a phlemmy cough. It took nearly 3 weeks for her to get over it!

Her skin has been doing a lot better now that I've figured out some things. She needs a bath every single day, which she loves, but she hates the getting out part. I also lotion her whole body once first thing in the morning, and then again after her bath in the evening. I use grandma el's diaper rash stuff on her cradle cap (works fantastic) and on her eczema spots on her belly. Her bad neck rash is tons better and at times gone completely. Her skin feels nice and soft instead of dry and scaly. Hopefully it doesn't get worse and this continues to work!

Here is a cool toy that Hyrum made for Claire. The red fish was dyed in beet juice, and the other three in food coloring. Sealed in beeswax. She doesn't grab on to it yet, but loves to stare at it while we shake it in front of her (like a rattle, the little fish move).
Claire wears lots of her cousins' hand me downs, like these cute little shorts!
We switched her to a convertible this month, and she seems much more comfy!

Such a smiley girl

Also, I love mornings now. Who wouldn't want to wake up to this?
Even she likes to pinch those chubby cheeks. She just outgrew this sleeper, it's size 6 months!
So happy she can't keep her eyes open!

She drools all the time now; you can see her drool spot in this picture. I often keep a bib on her so that she doesn't soak her cute clothes!
Kelli showed me how to use her camera so I could take a few pictures of Claire for a cloth diaper contest (didn't win anything). Here are some of our favorites!

What a cute, sweet, happy little thing! She's already changed a little since she's been here. Max does the leg kicking thing also during diaper changes, and he also found his feet recently--so cute! Yay for all the positive changes with her skin and sleeping habits! I hope it continues to get better and better. Bring that girl back here for a visit soon!!

She is so cute! I'm so glad her skin is getting better. Bathing daily and vaseline are the only things that have worked for us on Halle, and she still gets flair ups from time to time. Let us know how it goes with the oral medicine.

At two months she's already SOOO past the newborn stage. There's nothing newborn about her in that video. They leave that phase a little too fast, don't they.
